HEY BROS I AM UP FOR PLAYING THIS SUMMER. I want to run some plots.
I AM OFFERING UP A FEW SCENARIOS.
Circle of the Sky
SETUP Some say the circus only passes through every hundred years and others have bragged they've had front row seats twice. It appears overnight, in some back lot, and everyone, somehow, knows where it is, as if they were born knowing it would be here today.
A wrought iron fence surrounds the place you know to find tonight. It is ominously twisted and barbed, and rises high above the field mud - a mix of fliers, cigarette butts and the general detritus of foot traffic and older events taking advantage of the cheap lot. Tattered, brilliantly-hued cloths are strung from the inside of the fence, shielding what is inside from easy view, while the signs promise wonders of the sky and the great circle built to touch it.
You are ushered, by jugglers and acrobats who smile and perform small tastes of their acts, towards a large double gate. You barely have time to notice that some of the people around you don't... quite... like anyone from the world you came from. Some are blue, some are diaphanous, some have horns...
The sweet music, the smell of fried confectionery, the pop and snare beats of fireworks above gather your attention like a sirens call to a tent that seems to go upwards for miles. Scaffolding and ladders strewn around it in unsafe patterns, reaching directly into the low hanging clouds of this otherwise sedate Thursday evening.
For a moment, you feel lighter than your body. You hear something whispering in your mind, tugging at you to simply put down the heavy burden of your life. Run away, it whispers, sounding comforting, oddly familiar. Let the world love you for who you are, what you can do. It calls you upward in the sweetest voice---
Broken into static by someone in the crowd bumping roughly into you---
SCENARIO 1 Outsiders visiting, jamjar based. Reactionary to setting and the caprices of it.
SCENARIO 2 In verse OCs, workers who react to something going very wrong and trying to find out what is going on.
THEME This will borrow heavily from themes of fairy tales, Cirque du Soliel, Persona 4 and Mirror Mask. Please expect occasional themes of surrealism, mindfuckery, and potential losses of agency/memories/changed memories/experiences, but overall lighter, and very malleable atmosphere. The main plot will be a sleuth style story.
A Clockwork Song
SETUP You're certain that you traveled here. Even though the great towering buildings of stone and copper are foreign to you. The great machines, turrets on mechanical legs, pass by you, looking like nothing you've ever seen before. But you know that they were something you'd heard of, if you'd only gotten this far. The soft looking airship drifts above the billows of black smoke and white steam from nearly every building around, almost soundlessly compared to the cacophony of metal and gearwork surrounding you... contributing to your headache.
No one usually gets here. It's outside for a reason... You must have come on one of those ships or maybe one of the metal horses... Something that could have brought you here from there. You really should have gotten a second bottle of whatever you had last night.
But you have a job to do. You have something important. Something that will change everything if you get it right. Blearily, you go to rub the sweat of this hot day in this steaming city from your brow, when the crinkle of a message in your hand catches your sudden attention.
SCENARIO ABOVE STARTER. Your character remembers who they are and what's important to them, but they are missing some of the things they desperately don't want to remember. They will pick up parts of the environment and integrate it into their identity. How and what are up to you. The main thrust of the story will be intrigue, action and finding answers in a decidedly unfriendly, if shiny world. Power are uncapped and a world specific set will be granted to people coming in without powers if you, the player, want it. They will be tailored to the person.
THEME This will borrow heavily from Bioshock, Dishonored and the Borderlands series. Please expect a grittier world where fantastical elements will be outlawed by the setting and consequences, and, occasionally doors opened, by the use of them. Steampunk themes will persist, with technological levels being both more advanced than modern world and behind in other respects. Victorian sensibilities and power structures exists, with several well entangled factions, both inside and out of the law.
Her Lovely Reach
SETUP The High Captain Mirya Culvara of 'Her Lovely Reach' was neither young nor inexperienced. She was before the great Schism and one of the first to gain rank in the Earth-Sol empire who were once enemies. She answered the call of the Great Curiosity, to find the other side of the great dark, and sought it like duty. It made her older than many of the humans who staffed her ship, with their strange flaps on their faces. She learned to get used to the vibrations they called 'communication,' and how to assuage that the odd acrid fear when they first heard a true voice - her voice. They would come and go, live in a rush, have more of them.
But at best, they were ... hurried. A strange species of speed and recklessness. Which is why, when her ship shuddered... she knew a decision had been made by one of them. When her form shuddered from the gravity engines grinding into a weightless fault, the magnetic backup systems gave a cascade of clicks, clacks and thunderous clangs, like the punchline to whatever joke had happened.
A human made a choice. She reached out, the tendrils of her mind and the resonance of her Voice cutting through the clutter of alarm and confusion in one clear order.

SCENARIO 1 An anomaly engaged by the exploratory cruiser Her Lovely Reach causes a slow cascade of emergencies on board, starting with the QoL systems, and ending with the discovery of unenlisted stowaways... who seem to honestly not even know where or when they are. Jamjar option! Survival, integration and the quest to return home as themes. Do you pitch in, abandon ship at the first opportunity or hijack the ship? The choices are yours. Moderate power caps and some world rules in play.
SCENARIO 2 You are a crew member on Her Lovely Reach. Referred to as "Her Loveliness" or just "Love" familiarly, the crew is in for the long haul, finding the answers to the universe in a scientific expedition. Diplomats, engineers, scientists and even wealthy tourists originally started the venture, and four days ago, the ship made it's first uncharted leap, only to find a large anomaly in space. Crew members are often given partner bands, which link them to one other person emotionally and psychically. Depth of this link and even the ability to turn it on and off are built into each ring, meant to combat the sometimes claustrophobic, isolating and strange conditions that deep space groups have found in the past. This is the in world option. Alien species are welcome and you can bring in anything you can imagine.
THEME This will borrow heavily from Star Trek, Sliders, Star Gate and the Vorkosigan Saga. Expect an episodic story with an internal thread working throughout. Exploration, military command chains and alien cultures are the heavier themes of this.

Canon: The Garden of Sinners
Scenario: I'm most interested in mindfuck circus and space antics, in that order, but I'm also all for ~surprises~
Group or Solo: I'M GONNA BE THE SLOWEST THING TO EVER SLOW, like, honestly. So solo might be the best choice unless there's a group of turtles where we can all be sloooow??

One reoccuring nightmare, and the last time they tried to go back to bed to CONTINUE a dream post alarm wakeup.

Date: 2018-07-14 04:45 am (UTC)ONE DREAM SHE REMEMBERS FROM CHILDHOOD: She's around 4 or 5 and holding her father's hand as they walk across the many corridors and gardens of the Ryougi house. In the dream, the house is much larger than in reality and there's places that don't even exist in real life.
At the end of it all they reach a room where her very old grandfather is waiting. She's the only one who speaks with him. What he tells her is: "You can kill a person only once. The ones who killed someone else and used it up can never kill themselves. They can't die as humans."
Shiki asks her grandpa if he is okay over and over, but he never replies.
ONE FROM ADULTHOOD: Running a work errand for Touko. The dream involves skulking around shady areas of the city while it rains and she chases after some large beast, around the size of a lion. She kills it with her knife by tracing its death lines, but more of the same kind of beast start regenerating from every bit she cuts. These ones have no death lines and soon she's surrounded, slashing blindly at them as they also try to kill her.
ONE REOCURRING NIGHTMARE: It's the night she (they) decided to kill Mikiya. The events happen as they did in real life, she tries to stab him and chases after him under the rain across a dark bamboo forest. In this dream, she does catch up to him and she murders him gruesomely by cutting all of his death lines, one by one. An important detail is that Shiki is the one doing it, not SHIKI.
A DREAM SHE TRIED TO CONTINUE: It's a comfy, peaceful dream. SHIKI and Mikiya go out on a date, they walk around parks, malls, eat together... at the end of the night they both go back to Shiki's apartment... Mikiya takes his usual spot sitting on the floor by Shiki's bed, reading, and SHIKI peers over his shoulder to also read his magazine. He teases Mikiya a lot and flirts with him, Mikiya flirts back... and that's when her alarm goes off. Also important to note: neither Shiki is dead in this dream.
